As times passes, and so it must, our once young children become adults to their own children. Does our responsibility as a parent end because they are adults and parents too? The Lord would not. We may not have the influence over our children’s daily decisions as we once had, but we can still available to them, to give aid and advice, even if the advice is not as welcome as we would like it to be.
There are occasions when children, despite their parents best efforts to the contrary do not turn out the way the parents had hoped they would. When this happens, it is important for the child, no matter what age they are, know that they are loved no matter what and accepted for whom they are, even if their behaviour is not accordance with our desires.
Heavenly Father loves us, I have no doubt in my mind about this fact and yet, i am sure there are times when our behaviour is not what he would want it to be. We should never give up hoping that our wayward child will turn their life around, yet, we should not despair or blame ourselves for their behaviour, if we have taught them correct principles, there comes a time when they must be allowed to choose for themselves to either follow God’s laws or to go their own way. Whatever they chose, we can rest assured that Heavenly Father still loves them and us and that our children should always know to whom they may turn for help if they need it.
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
